UNIT 1: Foundation of Environment
Environmental Education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions.
Environment Education helps students understand how their decisions and actions affect the environment, builds knowledge and skills necessary to address complex environmental issues, as well as ways we can take action to keep our environment healthy and sustainable for the future.
Nutrient recycling and energy flow through an ecosystem
The energy from the sun is synthesized through photosynthesis and chemo synthesis. The process of photosynthesis leads to formation of glucose and oxygen which is then utilized by the process of respiration.
The trophic level is followed by ecological pyramid, which involves the efficiency and biomass. The productivity is measured as NPP and GPP. The energy flow takes place from different organisms, like from sun energy is utilized by plants, that are producers, followed by rabbit or mice which feed on grass, snake consumes rabbit and later eagle feeds on snake, after this role of decomposers comes into function where bacteria and fungi decomposes them into simpler inorganic substances.
Energy flow : Producers, for example plants; Consumers are of two types herbivores like deer, protozoans, etc and carnivores like tiger, lion, human being, etc
